Keith's in the man-cave with Billo
Taylor Marsh at the Huffington Post nails it. The ranting, the pandering, the sexism -- yup, the sexism, the very signature of MSNBC. I'd thought, hoped, wanted to believe that Keith wasn't one of them. But it seems that, after all, he is.
Marsh observes that "He's become what he has railed against. Olbermann is now the Bill O'Reilly of MSNBC. A big giant head railing against the first viable female candidate in U.S. history. Sports fans, it's the latest craze. Get yer popcorn, before "Countdown" starts. Beer will be a buck."
The article is titled Keith Olbermann is No Edward R. Murrow. Please read it.

I'm not ready to lump Olbermann in with Billo yet. He has, though, gotten a tad overwrought and self-righteous. Is it misogyny on Keith's part? I certainly don't know. I will say that I loathe middle-aged (and older) men who act out their Lolita fantasies. Keith's girlfriend, Katy Tur, is young enough to be his daughter. Ick.
I have hopes that Keith will watch his tapes soon and realize he's got to dial it back a bit. Those special comments were like rain in the desert when he first started them, but it's become too much of a good thing.
I think the anger drove the comment in the beginning, but now the need to comment drives the anger.

Chiaroscuro is a fancy Italian term that means the use of light and darkness in a way that makes the contrast between light and darkness in visual composition a point in itself. Well, I don't know....
I think we have more to occupy ourselves with than Keith's girl friend's age.

Vigilante:
"Chiaroscuro is...the use of light and darkness in a way that makes the contrast between light and darkness in visual composition a point in itself."
As such it seems to me a perfect moniker for a blogger.
Except that our Chiaroscuro is, in general, a painter of subtlety, whose palette allows us to see the nuanced shades between ideology's blinding white light and its purgatorial dark.

My computer's been in the tinker's shop for the past week and now I come back to this. Huh?
I don't know 'bout purgatorial, blinding light or subtlety for that matter.
As for Olbermann's girlfriend's age, it was a leading indicator for me to reassess my warm and fuzzy kvelling on Keith. It is, to me, a character failing.
