Sold out!

I've been mostly MIA from The Broad View since seriously ramping up for the October 27 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner here. I'm blown away by the response to our keynote speaker, Wes Clark, and to the tremendous coming-together of our community's Democratic grassroots.

Last year we had 306 people at the inaugural J-J Dinner, a few of them just showing up at the door with no advance reservations. As of today, 10 days before the event, we have 434 reservations — and I'm declaring us SOLD OUT. (We'd already decided last week to lose the dance floor in order to gain five more tables, and we just can't push the space any more.) Every one of those people represents potential phone-banking and other GOTVing in the crucial days before the election.

So many people have told me that Wes Clark's appearance is a big buzz in town — the above stats on our dinner prove that he is a tremendous draw. I've seen him on his feet a number of times, in large venues and small, and I know that in person he is a charismatic figure (something those who know him only from the presidential debates may not have seen). I am looking foward more than I can say to the pleasure of sharing that personal experience with almost 450 of our best Democratic friends.
