Meme of Four

It's going around...
#1 Four jobs you've had
#2 Four movies you could watch over and over
#3 Four places you've lived
#4 Four TV shows you love to watch
#5 Four places you've been on vacation
#6 Four websites you visit daily
#7 Four of your favorite foods
#8 Four places you'd rather be
You're supposed to answer off the top of your head — no deliberation allowed. (Spontaneity is all.) Annotations, I take it, are fine.
My fours below the fold.

#5 Note: a wise woman, one of my favorite teachers, gave me this advice before my first trip abroad: "Remember that the pleasure may not always be to travel, but to have travelled. That said...Hong Kong. Israel. Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto). Italy and France, top to bottom. ("Vacation" may not strictly apply.)

#7 Grilled Maine lobster with melted butter. Steamers. (Both of these dishes eaten within yards of the Atlantic Ocean, preferably out of doors on a weathered deck surrounded by dune grass.) Osso buco. Spaghetti with garlic and olive oil.
#8 (Paraphrasing Jerry Bowles at Sequenza21/): I live in Santa Barbara. Why would I want to be anyplace else?
It's been It is a helluva ride.

I knew you'd pick up on this one.
1. Dental assistant; art slide librarian; corporate meeting planner; energy newsletter marketer.
2. The Wizard of Oz; Lord of the Rings Trilogy; Casablanca; The Gay Divorcee. This is an impossible question. I don't know why I answered it. There's at least a few dozen more movies I've watched repeatedly.
3. Rogers Ave., Ocean Ave., East 19th St., Kenilworth Place.
4. The Amazing Race, Survivor, ummm, er... This isn't fair. My all-time favorites are long gone, including Adventures in Paradise, Combat, Hercules, Xena: Warrior Princess, and every iteration of Star Trek from the original series through Deep Space Nine and Voyager. I can proudly claim that I've never seen an episode of Friends, Will & Grace, ER, Law & Order of any flavor, or more than a few minutes of CSI, Everybody (except me) Loves Raymond, and nearly every show on television. I didn't even like Seinfeld. Lost is lost on me. The West Wing is pretty good, and I mourn the death last week of John Spencer, but I often forget to watch it. 24 is a guilty pleasure. I just started to get into Battleship Galactica at the end of last season, so we'll see.
5. London; Istanbul; North Platte, Nebraska; The Last Resort, Jackman, Maine.
6. Digby, Billmon, Gilliard, firedoglake.
7. Di Fara's pizza; chicken soup with matzoh balls; filet mignon; good bagels with lox and cream cheese.
8. Rome; Corfu; Vancouver; Chingford, Essex.

Damn, Chiaro, I knew I could count on you! Thanks for reminding me of The Gay Divorcee, which my husband and I watched countless times. And on #3, I shoulda included Linden Blvd. and E. 18th Street! #7, matzoh ball soup, me too -- with the proviso that only solid Brooklyn matzoh balls will do. Not those fluffy tasteless things they eat in the Bronx.

"Night and Day" is the most purely seductive dance I've ever seen. I pity anyone who doesn't understand that.
