Kaine Rising
I imagine our colleague Lowell Feld is feeling pretty good right now. Lowell runs RaisingKaine, the independent blog supporting Tim Kaine for governor of Virginia. Kaine and his principal opponent, Jerry Kilgore, debated last night before the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, and according to dispatches, Kaine was the clear winner.
"Kilgore was nervous and tense. He sounded bad. He argued badly. This was Kaine's best performance ever," the Washington Post quotes UVA politics professor Larry Sabato.
Even the Washington Times, which clearly favors the anti-choice Kilgore, had to admit that "Many in attendance said Mr. Kaine came off as the more composed candidate."
Kaine is still a couple of points behind Kilgore in the polls. But he's rising.
